Well, hey y’all! Let me tell you, if there’s one thing that gets my family running to the dinner table, it’s pizza. But not just any pizza—we’re talkin’ Taco Pizza! This recipe brings together two favorites: hearty tacos and cheesy, homemade pizza. It’s the perfect way to use our Grass-Fed Ground Beef from Permaculture Pastures, and it’s guaranteed to make your family swoon.

Whether you’ve got some of our ground beef from your quarter cow share or just stocked up on the best beef in North Texas, this recipe is a winner. And the best part? I’ll walk you through how to make your very own pizza dough and sauce. Homemade tastes better, y’all!

Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough (Makes 2 Medium Crusts):

1 cup warm water (about 110°F)

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 tsp sugar

3 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat for a healthier twist)

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp olive oil

For the Pizza Sauce:

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1 tbsp olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

½ tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Taco Pizza Toppings:

1 lb Permaculture Pastures Grass-Fed Ground Beef

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

½ tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup diced tomatoes

½ cup sliced black olives

½ cup pickled jalapeños

Sour cream and salsa for serving (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Pizza Dough

1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Make the Pizza Sauce

1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

2. Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Ground Beef

1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the Grass-Fed Ground Beef and cook, breaking it up as it browns.

2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until fully browned and flavorful. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4: Assemble the Taco Pizza

1. Preheat your oven to 475°F and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

2. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll one portion out into a 12-inch circle on parchment paper.

3. Spread a thin layer of homemade pizza sauce over the crust. Sprinkle with half of the cheese and top with half of the seasoned ground beef.

4. Carefully transfer the pizza (using the parchment paper) to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Step 5: Add the Fresh Toppings

1. Once the pizza is baked, let it cool slightly. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives, and pickled jalapeños.

2. Drizzle with sour cream or salsa, if you’d like. Slice and serve!
