As first generation farmers, we get asked a lot how we got started.
It was months of a longing building deep within us. Longing for better...better quality life, better quality food...better quality everything for our family. And for us, the answer to all of that could be found on a farm.
So we did it. One day we just woke up and did something crazy. Sold our big house and traded it for a small house with more land. We didn't know what we were doing. If we had waited to know how to farm, we would have waited forever. Raising cattle isn't something you can learn without just jumping in and making a lot of mistakes. And we sure made our share of those.
It was a long, hard journey with a wildly steep learning curve, but after five years of failures, successes, tears, defeat, frustration, going back to square one, surrounding ourselves with people smarter than us, and a lot of days of simply grinding through because we didn't have a choice, at last, we are here, providing high quality beef to our community as an actual fully operational farm. With all of the lessons we have learned along the way, we are proud of the beef we have developed and are able to put on tables throughout north Texas.
And our kids got to watch us stick it out and build our dreams. Which was the whole reason for starting out on this crazy adventure in the first place: to show them that when something matters to you enough you CAN make it a reality as long as you're willing to learn and work incredibly hard. The mouthwatering farm-to-fork beef is a bonus ;)
