Trust me, folks, once you give this a try, your pizza nights may never be the same!

Ingredients:

For the Homemade Sourdough Pizza Crust (Makes One Large Pizza):

1 1/2 cups sourdough starter (fed and bubbly)

3/4 cup warm water

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon honey

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

For the Cheeseburger Pizza Toppings:

1 lb Permaculture Pastures ground beef

1 tablespoon Permaculture Pastures Burger Rub

1/2 medium onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup dill pickles, sliced

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon mustard

1 tablespoon mayonnaise (or more, depending on your taste)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup shredded lettuce (optional, for garnish)

Tomato slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Make the Sourdough Pizza Dough:

First, let’s get that crust going. In a large mixing bowl, combine your sourdough starter, warm water, olive oil, and honey. Stir well to combine. Then, add the flour, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder, and mix until a dough begins to form.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 2-3 hours, or until it’s doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Burger Meat:

While your dough is rising, let’s get that ground beef seasoned up and ready. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and Permaculture Pastures Burger Rub. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spatula until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

3. Prepare the Pizza Toppings:

Preheat your oven to 475°F and get your pizza stone or baking sheet ready. If you’re using a pizza stone, make sure it’s preheating in the oven.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into your desired pizza shape. Place the dough onto your pizza stone or baking sheet.

Now, it’s time to assemble! Spread a thin layer of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise over the pizza dough. This acts as your “sauce” and gives it that signature cheeseburger flavor!

4. Assemble the Cheeseburger Pizza:

Top the dough with your seasoned ground beef, making sure to spread it evenly. Then, sprinkle on the cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese for that gooey, melty goodness.

Pop the pizza into the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown.

5. Garnish and Serve:

Once the pizza is out of the oven, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Sprinkle on the shredded lettuce and tomato slices if you’re using them. Add a few slices of dill pickles for that perfect tangy crunch. Slice it up and serve it hot—because, let me tell you, this pizza is gonna disappear fast!
